Headquarters for these sales was at the John Boyd home in the Fellowship Nighborhood in North Perry County, Alabama.
John Hall became a Country Store Keeper and became one of the wealthiest and more influential men of the Brush Creek area.

The petition of James
McKnight, guardian of Jackson L Hall and of the minor heir of John Hall deceased and Bluford M. Brown, guardian of Marion W Hall, also one of the minor heirs of the deceased respectfully showeth that some time in the year 1840, said John Hall departed this life having these heirs of his body to wit: The said Jackson L Hall and Marion W. Hall who are piteous wards and Sarah S. Smith who hath inter married with Madison H. Smith of Rusk County and Evalina McDaniel who hath intermarried with one John Thomas McDaniel of Nacogdoches County and Minerva Ann Smith who hath intermarried with one Joseph Smith of Rusk County and Green H. Hall, Bartlett M.Hall, Joshua Hall of the state of Tennessee, John A Hall of Alabama, Simpson Hall, Jabez H. Hall of Nacogdoches County, Minors. Nancy M. Werd as grandchild of John Hall deceased how hath intermarried with ______Werd of Tennessee, her father Leander Hall being dead.
And again to wit: on the 25th day of December in the year, AD 1842, letters of administration was granted by your honourable court on the estate of said John Hall decd. To one Thomas Jefferson Johnson of said county who hath ____ _____ and now is administrator on the estate aforesaid. That the time allowed by Law to administer said estate to bet twelve months hath long since _____ that said administrator hath heretofore neglected to settle up said estate to which there _____ ___ entitled. ____________ the liabilities hath long since been discharged....
On the 29th of October 1850, and entry was made in the minutes of said court in terms as follow to wit: No. 111 on application docket. In this case all prerequisites of the law remaining to have been complied with and the _______ & all WM. G. Engledorn for the minors & now residents being present in court consenting hereto His orders & decreed by the court the Six hundred & forty acres of land in Nacogdoches County heretofore set apart in the partition John Hall Estate to Jackson L. Hall, Nancy Adams, formerly Nancy Hall, Minerva Smith, wife of Joseph Smith & Jabez H. Hall, be now partitioned according to law so that each of these distributions may hold his and her share respectively in severally and William Mc Daniel. Daniel Athin, and Augustus Stephens are hereby appointed commissioners to partition the same in four equal shares according to quality and quantity among said distributees and a writ of partition will be issued accordingly to said commissioners requiring them to report their proceedings under this decree to the clerks office of our court under oath and ---- the said commissioners are also hereby informed that Jackson L. Hall, Jabez H. Hall are residents of Nacogdoches county, Texas. John T. McDaniel is the proper guardians for the said Jabez H. Hall, that Minerva Smith resides in Rusk County Texas & Nancy Adams in the state of Missouri and on the fourth November 1850 a writ of partitions was issued from said clerks office..........

To divide the estate of John Hall deceased among the heirs of the ... to John Hall and Joshua Hall in adjunction the Negroes they having drawn the adjunction to wit; Negro fellows Harry aged about 21 years at valued at $650. A Negro fellow Grommile aged abt 18 value at $500, a negro woman Harriet aged abt 14 valued at $300, making all together the amount of $1450 for which they acknowledge full satisfaction of said estate of which will appear by voucher no 1 & 2 and by abstract of partition # 3 & 4 (?) unto Bartlett M Hall his amount of in___ to said Estate __ will appear by voucher no. 3 and by abstract of partition #5 unto Green H Hall we assign the Negro fellow Earl? aged about 28 years valued at $769.
