* Alexander McLeod Sr. wrote his will in Pike Co., Georgia dated 18 April 1849. It was presented for probate 4 December 1854 and was recorded 8 December 1854. This will was witnessed by John Cauthen, Thomas M. Cauthen and James Cauthen. The will named Angus McLeod and William H. Crawford as Executors. He left all possessions after any debts were paid to his wife Margaret.
* The old McLeod home place in Pike Co. was on Liberty Hill Road. Story is that they had a livery stable for changeing horses for the Stagecoach lines. It burned. Also known family fact is that
* Alexander Sr. is buried in an unmarked grave in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery, Pike Co., Ga. This information came from Mittie Lee Hand Gr. Grand Dau to Mittie Lena McLeod Moore.(8-6-01)

Georgia, Pike County) In the name of God Amen. I Alexander McCloud of said state and county being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right and proper truth as respect of myself and family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has helped me. I therefore make this my last will and testament hereby severing and annulling those heretofore made by me.
ITEM FIRST: I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and conditions. My soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it.
ITEM SECOND: I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors herein afterward as I am unwilling my indebtors should be delayed of their rights especailly as there is no necessity for delay.
ITEM THIRD: I give an devise to my beloved wife Margaret with whom I have lived in peace and quite and love for about forty years. Giving one and a quarter acre of land it being the half of the land tht I live on at the present and she is to have the liberty of selecting her portions off of any part as she may think proper including the dwelling house and other out houses that she may think proper and other out houses that she may wish with all the rights, members and appurtenances to ease a need of land in any one appurtenancy whatever to her own proper use benefit and behalf forever with full power to dispose of the same at any time before or at her death as she may think proper. I also give and bequeath to my wife in the same unreserved manner the farming utensils used on and belonging to my plantation of every description whatever and one such horse as she may choose out of my stock of horses. Also one half of my stock of cattle to be selected by her. Also one half of my stock of pigs such as she may choose. Also one half of my stock of sheep such as she may choose also all my household and kitchen furniture also the half of my oxen and cart also all the corn, fodder and wheat belonging to me on said premises all with out reserve or limitations.
ITEM FOURTH: I give and bequeath to my belovede wife for and during her natural life my negro girl Fanny.
ITEM FIFTH: The rest of my property both real and personal I wish to be equally divided amongst my beloved children and at the death of my wife, the aforesaid negro girl, Fanny, to be equally divided amongst my children in like manner.
ITEM SIXTH: I constitute and appoint my beloved wife Maragaret Executrix and my son Anguish McCloud and my son in law William H. Crawford, executors of this my last will And Testament this
