Mustang Cemetery
aka Jackson

Mustang Cemetery is located in northeast Denton County, 11 miles East of Pilot Point, Texas.

There are 62 readable markers in this unfenced area, with many of the markers broken by cattle. It is estimated that there are 20 to 25 more unmarked graves. This was recorded on 3 March, 1983 by Grover Rue, Celina, TX and James E. Jackson, Dallas, TX 75218. Mr. Jackson is now deceased. (1999)

This was listed in the Family Tree Column in the Dallas Morning News on Sept 3, 1987: James Eugene Jackson, 9215 San Fernando Way, Dallas 75218, became almost full-time genealogist after reaching retirement age. He sent a list of burials from a Denton county cemetery that he says is in horrible shape. The cemetery is on a farm near Pilot Point in the Mustang community, on land that was originally part of the Peters Colony. The full list of burials was printed in the Mesquite Tree Volume 19 No. 2 June 1983. Copies are available for $3.00 plus 50 cents postage from the society at P.O. Box 165 Mesquite, TX 75149. The list that Jackson sent me will be placed in the genealogy section of Dallas J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Permission given to print on the Internet by Marjorie Bays at the Mesquite Genealogical Society.
