Documentation: Joseph Edward Bowers was adopted when he was real young.
All we know of his adopted parents is there names are Edward and Mary
Bowers of Cameron Co, Pa.  Edward fought in the Civil WAR and received a
pension.  In Edward's Will proved Oct 1911 in Cameron Co., PA, named
Joseph Edward BOWERS as Executor of WILL and Estate.
His real name before he was adopted was Charles Agustine Hassan. He was
in the St. Joseph's Orphange in Erie , Pa. along with his 4 other
brothers.  Which are James, John, Frank, and William. Information was
gathered by Heather Bowers, by gathering letters from Chamber of
Comerece, Catholic Social Services, Church Records, and relatives on the
East coast. All letters are in the possesion of Heather Bowers.  His
birth parents were James HASSAN and Mary LIPPERT.
Census of 1880 in Erie, Pa. list him at St. Joseph Orphenage with his 4
brothers.
Census Records of Cameron Co., Pa. for 1900 and 1910 list Joseph living
with his adopted parents Mary and Edward BOWERS.
Joseph is buried at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland, Or. next to his
wife Bertha Worthington BOWERS.
