John Pendleton and Lucy Ann Williams adopted her nephew, George Morton Williams when he was three years old and raised him. John Strother Pendleton was called "the lone star" when in congress; was a brillant orator and very handsome with blue eyes and light hair. Practiced law in Culpeper and was the Charge d'affairs to Chile 1841-1844, member of congress 1845 to 1849, Charge d'affairs to the Argentine Confederation 1851-1854, and more. He was the only "Whig" member of congress at that time. Was knows to have along with his handsomeness, a very profane and lovable nature. The natural parents of George Morton Williams were: Phillip Williams and Mildred Catlett. Mildred died when George Morton was three years old, thus he was adopted by his aunt & uncle.
