The family remembers his being in Bell County in the late 1870's. By 1880 he is listed on the census in Ellis County, Texas. He was a farmer and postmaster in Rice. He died during a visit to Hardeman County, Tennessee and is buried there. His wife is buried in Rice Cemetery, Navarro County, Texas.
