Notes:
(1) The exact spelling of Sophia's surname is
unknown. The family story is that she came to Texas
with her father and step-mother sailing from Europe.
They became separated upon arival because she was
ill, and they left her to recover. Some stories say
they never saw each other again, and some say they
were reunited after her marriage to first spouse John
ANDERSON. It was also said that the family had been
well off in Europe, but Sophia learned to work as a
maid to support herself in Texas.
