The only other time I have found him on a census is in 1930 Cleveland, Liberty Co., Texas. He worked in sawmills until he was too old or too frail to work. He was listed on the 1930 Liberty Co., Texas census at 80 years old and his name was spelled, John Stadman, as well as his wife Lydia and my aunt Gladys Stedman. The name has been changed so many times, it is difficult to keep up with. My Aunt Gladys went to school in Cleveland, Texas and possibly in Silsbee, Kountze and Honey Island. She told me that she lived in all those places when she was growing up. Neither Aunt Gladys or my mother knew they had a sister until they were grown and married. My mother found out in Nov. 1939 when John Steadman showed up on her porch and said "I am your father". I was born on Nov. 18th and my mother was busy taking care of a new baby as well as her father and her own family. Her father didn't talk a lot, but she did find out she had a sister. Aunt Gladys boarded with several families in those S.E. Texas counties; including a Nora Herrington in Silsbee, Texas.
