Records from the Texas General Land Office.On December 3, 1844, Daniel received a fourth class headright land grant unconditional certificate for 640 acres, issued by the Washington County Board of Land Commisioners, certificate # 163. On the grant it states "He has resided in the Republic three years and performed all the duties required of him as a citizen". He was also a founding member of the Neill Masonic Lodge # 138 located in Lexington, Lee County Texas. Dispensation was on September 26, 1853, chartered on January 21, 1854. In 1868 the lodge was granted permission to change the name from Neill to Lexington. Daniel and Margaret are buried in the Tanglewood-Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Lee Co. Tx.
