* James Christopher MOORE was the son of Elijah MOORE and Barbara Jane CHEATHAM BARBER MOORE. When Elijah and Barbara married on December 16, 1834, she was a widow with one son named George Thomas BARBER (b. May 27, 1830) On December 21, 1850, James Christopher MOORE married Martha Jane Rampy in Randolph County, Alabama.
* They and their seven children came to Bell County, Texas, in the spring of 1872, settling between Holland and Salado. Three more children were born after they came to Bell County.
* James Christopher MOORE had served in the Civil War for three years, enlisting on March 11, 1862, at Rock Mills, Randolph County, Alabama. He served with the 5th Battalion (calvary), Company B, with Brigadier General M.H. Chrysler commanding.
* After coming to Bell County, Texas, James Christopher MOORE, was a successful farmer and owned several hundred acres of land around and between Holland and Salado. His home was about five miles east of Salado, and Moore's Corner was a well-known point between the two towns.
* Martha Jane RAMPY MOORE was born in Woodland, Alabama, and after her marriage to James Christopher MOORE they lived near Woodland until their move to Bell County. She is buried in the Holland Cemetery. James Christopher MOORE is also buried Holland Cemetery.
