Documentation: Census and marriage records from Lawrence County,
Tennessee and Pope County, Arkansas.
Family Bible Record of Mary Ann Bowden, owned by Gene Burris of
Russellville, Arkansas.
Family Bible Record of William McAnally family found at the Russellville,
Arkansas public library in the loose paper McAnally file.
Cemetery records of Eastland and Brown Counties in Texas.
Pope County History Volume I and II.
James Bowden remarried after Elizabeth died to Louise J. Ladd. Louise was
born in 1830 in Alabama. Her mother was Margaret Ladd. Two of her
sisters, Emily and Mary Ladd, were living with James and Louise in the
1880 Lawrence Co. census.
Lois Matilda Bowden remarried to Wiley P. White on 12 October 1871 in
Lawrence County, Tennessee Box 11 file 100 at the county archives in
Lawrenceburg, TN. Wiley is buried in Tennessee.
Didama Elizabeth Nowlin, David Bryant Nowlin and Benjamin Wade Nowlin
were brothers and sister. David was married before he married Elizabeth
Bowden, Benjamin remarried after Sarah died.
I found a book done by Charles Winston Bowden's daughter, Ada Madora
Prentice in the Russellville, Arkansas library about her family. The
Prentice papers mentioned that John Archibald (they called him Allen)died
during the Civil War at age 23. In the bible from Mary Ann Linam's family
his birth is listed as the same date that is on his sister, Lois'
tombstone, 24 Apr 1842.  This would have him deceased in 1865 which would
be during the Civil War. But the Prentice birthdate has 1846 and that
would make him deceased in 1869.  Census age agrees with the 1846
birthdate. So not sure about his dates. .
