 Documentation: Charles Willis Bowden is listed in the births in the
Henry Nelson Clay Bowden family bible. This is how I know his name was
Willis.
Information on Sidney Bowden family from Bruce and Sue Bowden of Ridge
Manor, Florida, who also sent pictures of the family.
Information on Margaret and Wm. James Tice family from Paul Gary Tice of
Nashville, Tennessee who had written a book entitled, "The Tice Family."
Pictures are included in this book.
Fountain Pitts and Sarah Ann Teague Linam Bowden lived at Dover, where I
live. I have known their family all my life. I also borrowed pictures
from their granddaughter, Bertha Taylor Martin. Sarah Ann Teague Linam is
my grandmother's sister. Fountain Pitts Bowden was a first cousin to
their mother, Mary Ann Bowden, daughter of James Bowden and Elizabeth
McAnally.
Information on the James Newton Bowden family from John Newton Bowden of
San Antonio, Texas, a grandson; and from James Harrison who now lives in
Spain, but at the time was in Nashville, Tennessee. He is from the family
of their daughter Mary Ella Strickland and he had all the old family
pictures of this family.
I have a copy of the original estate settlement for Charles Willis Bowden
from Lawrence County, Tennessee. I also found pictures of this couple at
the Lawrence County Archives left there by Garry Brewer. He also sent me
a letter written by Louise J. Bowden to Mrs. A. J. Griffin.
