Documentation: NOTES ON SAMUEL O. HOPKINS, Jr.: Sam may have been
married twice. If so, his first wife was Mattie Sorrels and his second
wife was Tilly Unknown. I belive Mattie and Tilly are the same person
and her name was probably Matilda, or Mattie Matilda. He is burried with
Mattie M. Hopkins. In the early 1960's he came to South Carolina to see
my grandmother and she said his wife was called Tilly.
NOTES ON JOSEPH HOPKINS: His tombstone gives his year of birth as 1868;
however, all other records support a birthdate of 1870.
