HAINEY Sex: F Birthdate: About 1858 Birthplace: SC Death date: Place of death: Marriage date: Marriage place: Spouse's name: Documentation: Benjamin's Parents: 1830 Census, Anson County, NC, Gulledge Twp. Henry HAYNIE is shown with two males under 5 born between 1825-1830. 1840 Census, Anson County, NC, Gulledge Twp.shows males 10-15, born 1825-1830. One of these sons is Harvey Haynie who was also born about 1927. Benjamin fits here and is perhaps Harvey's twin. There is no 1850 Census listing for this family. They are in the 1860 Census, Anson County, NC but Benjamin is on his own by then. Henry HAYNIE's father was Benjamin HAYNIE, Jr. so Benjamin fits this family very well. The 1860 Census, Chesterfield County, Cheraw Post Office Dist., enumerated July 23, 1860 shows Benjamin HAINEY, age 33, born about 1827 in NC, shingle setter; Ann HAINEY, age 23, born about 1837 in SC, wife; James H., age 7, born about 1853; Jno., age 5, born about 1855 in SC; Gillian, age 4, born about 1856 in SC; Elizabeth J., age 2, born about 1858 in SC. Also in the household is Wincy EDDINS, age 58, born about 1802, probably Ann's mother and Harriet DEES, age 29, born about 1831,probably Ann's sister. I can find no evidence of ANN or any other member of this family in the 1870 South Carolina Census Index. I do find James HANEY, age 17, born about 1853 in NC, works on farm, in the household of William and Elizabeth WALKUP in the 1870 Union County, NC Census, Jackson Township, enumerated on September 6, 1870. Benjamin HAINEY served with the South Carolina Troops in the Civil War. He was attached to the 21st Inf., Co. D, Chesterfield, "The Cheraw Guards." From "Broken Fortunes, Roll of the Dead, South Carolina Troops, Confederate States Service" we find HANEY, Benjamin; Chesterfield Dist.; age not listed; rank - Private; Co. D, 21st Regt. SCV; date of death February '62; cause and place of death and remarks - Dis. Hosp., Georgetown SC. I have ordered war records from SC archives. This family has vanished and I would like to find them.
