* According to Gerald Caulk: When Eli's wife Caroline died, he took children to his parents at Farmington MS and they grew up there. He received this from correspondence with Ruth McCutchen in July of 1986. Caroline died in 1878 and Eli is listed alone in the 1880 Alcorn Co., MS census.
Mrs. Maude Overbey states the full name of E.E. Voyles was "Eli Emariah William Gobeforth Voyles."
