* William Buice was born in the State of New York. There is a record of a William Buice being born in Duchess County, New York. Family tradition claims he and his brother Abraham left New York and traveled South, going first into North Carolina and then into South Carolina where they lived in what became Spartanburg County, South Carolina. William Buice and his wife Sarah owned land on Thicketty Creek in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. William left his land to his sons and wife Sarah. William and Sarah's daughter Liddie (Lidia) was born impaired/retarded and never married and was cared for by her mother and siblings after her father's death. William Buice served in the Revolutionary War as a Lieutenant of Horse under Capt. Vardry McBee and Col. Roebuck from June 18, 1780 until July 1, 1781. (A.A. 889, X1084, X3418; C.S.) Roster of South Carolina Patriots by Bobby Gilmer Ross. William and Sarah Buice were thought to be buried on or near their property in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Their graves are unmarked.
