Found in 1772 on tax list of Bedford Co. (now Somerset Co.) Pa. #2. Deeds for land Warranted in 1784, called "Petersburg" to Peter Schweitzer, patent Book 56 pg. 354, this land is then sold off by his children as the legal heirs of Peter Schweitzer, after his death. Patented in Bk. Vol. 6 pg. 110. #3. Peter Schweitzer is named among the founders of the town of Berlin, indenture was made on June 2, 1784. #4. Peter Schweitzer is on the Manufacturers Federal Direct Tax List of 1798, listed with 1 still house. #5.Peter Schweitzer is listed on December 6, 1804 Term on the Jury list of Somerset Co. #6. Peter Schweitzer, Brothers valley Twp., Jan. 6, 1809, Vol. 5 pg. 119, sold 166 acres of land, part of Petersburg, to Adam Miller, which was patented in Vol. 6 pg. 110, sold for 32 pds. 16 shillings & 2 pence. #6. #3 of 1817, Vol. 2 pg. 136, Brothersvalley Twp., mentions his plantation of 150 acres,Somerset County, Pa. Will written on July 20, 1816, names his children ( not his wife) as on the family group sheet, Sons, Peter & Jacob; daughers as Elizabeth wife of David Lewis Phillippi; Margaret, wife of Jacob (Gunderman) Countryman, now Michael Tedrow; and Catherine, wife of Peter Martin. His son, John Jacob, is recorded in the Berlin Church Records but he is not named on the will. registered on 17 July 1819. #7. On December 13, 1818, Vol. 8 pg. 326, Elizabeth Schweitzer and husband David Phillippi sold another part of Petersburg,149 acres, part of a tract warranted on October 5, 1784 to Peter Schweitzer, Elizabeth being one of the legal heirs. #8. Vol. 8 pg. 330, Brothersvalley Twp. October 6, 1818 Peter Schweitzer Jr. sold land, part of Petersburg ,149 acres, to Jacob Countryman. #9. Vol. 7 pg. 435, Brothersvalley Twp., Peter Schweitzer Sr. sold part of the land called Petersburg to his son, Jacob, for his natural love and affection in 1817. #10. The grave markers of both Peter and Veronica Schweitzer are located in the Berlin Cemetery behind the Lutheran-Reformed Church on Main st., Berlin, Somerset County, Pa. .
