He removed with his parents to North Carolina in 1759; married Christian UNKNOWN; bought his first land about 1765 from Andrew BASS; in 1770, served as chain carrier during the survey of Moses MUSGRAVE'S patented land; received a patent for 100 acres in 1779; in March, 1779 was voted number 475 in Dobbs county election; bought 300 acres from Moses MUSGRAVE'S 450 acres in 1785; in 1786 owned 748 acres according to the tax lists for Wayne Co., TN; and conveyed land to his son, Thomas MUSGRAVE, Jr. in 1790. He likely was a birthright Quaker but he seems to have dropped out of the church, perhaps as a result of the attitude of his father who was disowned. Thomas made a will on Jan. 9, 1794 in Wayne Co., TN which the Jan. term of court of the same year was probated.
