Notes:
*There is a discrepancy with the death dates for Jacob STILL and his first wife, Elizabeth BAILEY engraved on the tombstone and those reported in the "STILL FILE" in the Dauphin County Historical Society, Harrisburg, PA.
*Harold L. PINKERTON, Sr. Genealogy Source Notebook "STILL/PINKERTON". Harold is the gerat-great-great-grandson of Hugh PINKERTON (1767-1852) and Margaret ECKERT (1776- 1844/1845).
*The inspiration for Pinkerton Genealogy by Harold L. PINKERTON and his daughter, Sharon P. WAYLAND came from communication with Paul W. PINKERTON a distant cousin, and his daughter Helen P. RYDELL, who in 1984-1990 worked on mapping the various branches of PINKERTON cousins descended from Hugh PINKERTON. Paul W. was the great-great grandson of Hugh Pinkerton.
*The Federal Census data for the Jacob STILL - Family Group Sheet was culled from the Heritage Quest On-Line Database.
*Elizabeth PINKERTON was the second wife of Jacob STILL. His first wife, Elizabeth BAILEY and he had twelve children.
*O.H. STROH's, "Dauphin COunty Tombstone Inscriptions" lists Jacob STill and first wife Elizabeth BAILEY as buried in the Longs Church Cemetery, but not Elizabeth PINKERTON STILL. An on-site visit in August of 1991 to the Longs Cemetery outside of Halifax, Dauphin County revealed, Jacob STILL and first wife Elizabeth graves side-by-side. A newer stone stands slightly in front and read "Elizabeth PINKERTON STILL 1817-1894. Since that date, a new stone has been placed to mark the graves listing Jacob STILL, Elizabeth BAILEY and Elizabeth PINKERTON all on one stone.
