OBITUARY as published in the Altoona, PA "Tribune" in April of 1933: Joseph C. Stiffler, brother of Mrs. Della Seese, Altoona, and father of Merle C. Stiffler, Canoe Creek, died at 11:00AM Monday, of a cerebral hemorrhage at the homeof his son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. J. E. Westover, York, at the age of 73. surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Stiffler, and the following son and daughters: Merle C. Stiffler, Canoe Creek; Mrs. F. T. Wensel, Patton, Mrs. A. J. Malone, Colver, and Mrs. Westover, York. Interment will be in Carson Valley cemetery. Funeral services will be held in the Lutheran church, Duncansville, at 2 p.m. Thursday. The body may be viewed at the homeof M. C. Stiffler, Duncansville, Wednesday evening and prior to the funeral on Thursday. Interment will be in Carson Valley Cemetery.
