Notes:
  * There is a discrepancy with the 1900 Census concerning this family. Harry and his wife appear to be living apart in 1900. The census taker in Lancaster recorded his marital status as "Single", while his wife reported "married" for twenty-nine years. It is also unusual for him to give his name as "Henry" for most records from 1870 forward are listed under "Harry C".
  * An additional "H.C. PINKERTON", age 23 in 1865 is listed in the Civil War File Indexes 1861-1866 in the Pennsylvania State Archives, (ARIAS) Pennsylvania's Digital State Archives "H.C. PINKERTON Enrolled 2-20-65, M.I. 2-20- 65 as Private at Pottsville, PA, M.O: 8-11-65. Age at enrollment 23, Occupation: Moulder, Residence: Pine Grove, PA. B - 16 Cavalry, A-16 C (Transferred from B-16 date unknown."
  * There is a discrepancy with the death year for Harry C. PINKERTON. His tombstone reads "1840-1905" and the information written in the 1900 Federal Census gives his birth year as April 1841.
  * After the death of Harry's father, Joseph PINKERTON in 1854, his mother, Susan remarried, Emanuel L. RIFFERT and had eight additional children.
  * Harold L. PINKERTON Genealogy Source Notebook "JOSEPH PINKERTON Family".
  * The inspiration for Pinkerton Genealogy by Harold L. PINKERTON and his daughter, Sharon P. WAYLAND came from communication with Paul W. PINKERTON (1915-1990) a distant cousin, and his daughter Helen P. RYDELL, who in 1984- 1990 worked on mapping the various branches of Pinkerton cousins.
  * The Federal Census data for the Harry C. PINKERTON Family Group Sheet was culled from the Heritage Quest on-line database.
