My grandmother was of Welch extraction. Her maiden name was Margaret WRIGHT. She was small and stout, about four feet ten inches, and weighed about 140 pounds. She was especially talkative and was considerably sought for advice. She was a midwife and brought many babies successfully into the world. She was the head of the family, having born nine robust, intelligent and beautiful children into the family. Grandfather was a carpenter and a school teacher before public schools were generally established. He was six feet tall, very quiet and kindly. Grandfather died at 78 years of age, and grandmother at 80 years. They were honored members of society, though were not regular attendants at church; nor professed any creed. She was a close acquaintance of James BUCHANAN, 15th President of the United States from 1857-1861."

Frank wrote that our great grandfather was born in Halifax, Pennsylvania, but died before he was born in December, 1852. He was a carpenter and in the grain business. Frank did not know the first name of the great-grandfather or of his great-grandmother. On the father's side the grandfather was George PINKERTON, also born in Halifax, but of Scotch descent... I do not remember him although he died at 78 years and grandmother at 80, But, I have been told I was quite a favorite with him since I was born in March 28, 1872, and he was a frequent baby sitter for me.
