Notes:
  * The genealogical and historical documents, photos and family letters used as source material for this document were collected and saved by Harold LeRoy PINKERTON, Sr. and his brother Lester Forrest PINKERTON (1921-2004), sons of Forrest Henry (1890- 1939) and Nellie (PEIFFER) PINKERTON (1889-1990) of Llewellyn.
  * Harold L. PINKERTON Genealogy Source Notebook "Isaac PEIFFER". Harold is the great- grandson of Isaac PEIFFER, grandson of William Francis PEIFFER and son of Nellie M. PEIFFER (1889-1990) and Forrest H. PINKERTON (1890- 1939).
  * The Federal Census data for the Isaac PEIFFER - Family Group Sheet was culled from the Heritage Quest On- Line Database.
  * After the death of Maria Lucy HAINES in 1881, Isaac PEIFFER married Rebecca (last name unknown).
  * There are several spellings for the family surname: "Peiffer"; "Peifer"; "Piefer" and "Pifer" in various historical records. The family preferred spelling is "Peiffer".
  * There is an error in the Llewellyn Methodist Church Records pertaining to the death date for Isaac PEIFFER. "Isaac Peiffer died 1898". His actual death occurred in 1906 and his tombstone reads "D 2-5-1906".
  * "The Biographical Annals of Lebanon County", Chicago: J.H. Beers, 1904, pp706-707: "Samuel S. PEIFFER" biography identifies an Isaac PEIFFER: "Samuel S. PEIFFER ... born September 22, 1857 in Bethel Township, a son of Isaac and Sarah Schack PEIFFER, the former of whom is a resident of Schuylkill County, though born in Berks county, and is engaged in the wood business. After his marriage (to Sara) he came to Lebanon County and engaged in the produce business, having located in Bethel Township. Prior to removing to Schuylkill County, he was bereaved of his wife, her early death taking place at about the age of twenty-five years. She left two children, Levi S. and Samuel S." (who were raised in Bethel Township). "Jacob PEIFFER, father of Isaac, was a substantial farmer of Berks County. Jacob PEIFFER was actively identified with the Union Church of Millersburg, and in its shadow he lies buried. The family is of German origin. Isaac PEIFFER married a second time, and is now well advanced in years." (In 1904, when this was published, Isaac PEIFFER of Branch Township, Schuylkill County was age 74. The 1900 Federal Census for Pennsylvania lists only five "Isaac PEIFFER's" - 1) 29 yrs old, Middletown, Dauphin Co, (too young); 2) 14 years old Bethel Twp, Lebanon County (too young); 3) 60 years old, 7th ward Lebanon, Carpet Weaver (wrong county); 4) 80 years old, Bethel Twp, Lebanon County (wrong county); 5)Isaac PEIFFER, 68 years old, Laborer, Coal Mines, Branch Township, Schuylkill County. If the "Samuel S. PEIFFER biography is a record of the Isaac PEIFFER (1832-1906) who died in Schuylkill County, PA, then Maria Lucy HAINES was his second wife, and Rebecca was his third wife. More research will be required to resolve this question.
