Curtis, occupation. Tailor, in partnership with someone (Unknown but may have been John Curtis, a weaver. Margaret Curtis lists her occupation as "Mangler" in 1823 -1832 Philadelphia City Directories, indicating that she continued to work in the family business after Elilu's death. Margaret's son, Joseph Curtis, was sent to New Orleans at age 20, as a Commissions Merchant, and had an office located in the cotton warehouse district from 1830 -1850, indicating a business connection between Elilu and the John Curtis, who's business was manufacturing in the 1830 Census.
