NOTES:
Eli NEWTON probably did not marry Margaret ("Madge") ERWIN, although on her application for Social Security in the 1930s, she shows him as her spouse. Eli was probably Roman Catholic, and Madge had George baptized RC, but it is noted that his birth was to an unmarried woman. Presumably Madge told the priest who the father was. George stopped practicing his faith in the 1920s, Ariel my not have been baptized RC, or baptized at all.
