Documentation:
John LANE and his young family moved from Buncombe Co.,
NC. to Henderson Co., KY in 1804.  His sister Patience LANE who was
married to John HART, also lived in Henderson Co., KY.  John LANE'S wife
Elizabeth STREET was the daughter of John STREET, First Sherrif of
Buncombe Co., NC.  John LANE and his family moved to Vanderburgh Co.,
IN., after 1816.  John and Elizabeth STREET LANE'S son Gen. Joseph LANE
served on the Legislature for Indiana for about 20 years.  He also served
in the Mexican American War, where he became a Brigade General.  During
the war, he captured Santa Anna, and took his sword, which now is in the
possession of the Douglas Co., OR Musuem.  After the war he became the
first Teritorrial Governor of OR, served as an Indian Agent for the
Oregon Territory, also fought in the Roughe River Indian War, in OR.
Joseph was on the Breckinridge Ticket, against Abraham LINCOLN.  Of
course we know who won that election:)  Joseph's Father John LANE fought
in the Revolutionary War on the Battle of King's Mountain.  Below are my
