Abraham Widner is supposed to have emigrated from New York to Ohio about 1817. He is supposed to have been married twice. The mother of Samuel was born in Pennsylvania. Mary C.'s marriage may be common law. I have never located a marriage record in Butler or any surrounding counties. She later lived in Cincinnati and New Orleans but remained in Cambridge City, Ind., from about 1864 on. Samuel was a boatman on the Whitewater canal. Most of his biographical information came from his military record in the Civil War. He later lived in Indianapolis, Lafayette (Ind.) and Milwaukee |
