 Documentation: Sumner's father was from Scotland to New York married in
Massachusetts to Rachael Shattuck first, then Sarah Spaulding Lawrence
second, moved to Boone county, Illinois where his second family was born
,then  moved to Calhoun county, Michigan where he died and Sarah
remarried Carlos Scott , he died and she married Charled Dow. Sarah died
in Morton county, N.D. all total James McLain had 21 children and he
lived to be 80 dying in 1871 ,1 child  Clara was born after he died . .
