was at Old Salem Medthodist Church, Near Delway, North Carolina.
Elizabeth had
lost her first husband in the Civil War. Lucien had just arrived
home from the
war. They were attending services and while in the church yard,
Elizabeth saw
Lucien at a distance and confided in a friend that this would be here
next
husband. It was love at first sight with both Elizabeth and Lucien.
They were
married circa 1866.

Elizabeth picked the cotton, picked the seeds out, carde the cotton,
spun the
thread and wove the thread into cloth. She mad her wedding dress
from the
cloth and married twice in the same dress. The first marriage

Peterson, second marriage to Lucien Timothy Branch. She was married
each time
the same minister, Rev. Allen Blackburn.
