                                LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

The first meeting of Betsy Elizabeth Hudson Peterson and Lucien Timothy Branch
was at Old Salem Medthodist Church, Near Delway, North Carolina.  Elizabeth had
lost her first husband in the Civil War.  Lucien had just arrived home from the
war.  They were attending services and while in the church yard, Elizabeth saw
Lucien at a distance and confided in a friend that this would be here next
husband.  It was love at first sight with both Elizabeth and Lucien.  They were
married circa 1866.
