NOTES: Samuel Baird can be found on the 1840 & 1850 Washington Township,
Carroll County, Ohio Census, 1860 Caledonia Township, Houston County,
Minnesota Census, and the 1880 Winnebago Township, Houston County,
Minnesota Census. His grandfather is believed to be John Baird. Elizabeth
Harmon's father is believed to be Jonathan Harmon. Obadiah Allen Baird joined
the Army during the Civil War in 1862 and was mustered out in 1865 due to an
injury that lead to deafness is his right ear. His name was changed to Beard I
believe while he was in the Army because his burial record shows Beard as his
surname. All the Baird's are believed to be Methodists, as John Alexander Baird
was. The Spangler's married into the Baird's, all the Spangler's above are siblings.
There were 5 Baird brothers that came to the US around 1750, 3 came first then
the 2 other brothers came later. One of those Baird's is a direct line with our
Samuel Baird born in 1814. There is a Francis Randolph Baird who was a General
in the British Navy who fough the Dutch in the West Indies, he was once belived to
be Samuel's father but we do know he is connected some how due to family
records my uncle Don has.
