Family Bible of Eli MICKEL.  Inscribed in the Bible:  "Eli
Mickel's Bible bought of Mr. Issac A. Ogden 1821" American Bible Society
by D. & C. Bruce D. Fanshaw, No. 20 Sleat Lane, New York 1819. Also in
bible: "This is the property of Eli Mickel and my desire is that the Lord
will direct me into the paths of piety and instruct me on this blessed
Gospel and likewise all my fellow travelors to Eternity."  Also:  "Ruth
EDMONDS, wife of Parsons Edmonds departed this life January 20th 1846."
This was the 2nd husband of Ruth Garrison Mickel.  In addition:  "Mrs.
Sarah Johnson, wife of James Johnson, Daughter of Eli and Ruth Mickel
Departed this life December the 23, 1844, aged 24 years five months and
four days.  She died regreted by all who knew her.  She left her friends
on earth to return to the God that gave her, having been married but near
eighteen months all to a few days. O weep for her whose life so quickly
run, Weep for the Beautiful whose days are over, Gone are the bud its
blossoming had done, Withered in silence to revive no more."
