Simeon POST invented the "Post Truss" which was instrumental in bridge construction and was chief engineer for the New York and Erie Railroad. He invented the parbolic head-light reflector, the system of railroad baggage checks, and the diagram for making railroad timetables.
His son, Andrew Jackson POST founded the steel construction firm of POST & McCORD of New York City. This firm was the steel contractor for the Empire State Buidling and over 100 other New York City skyscrapers and buildings.
