Death notice found in the "Rolla Herald" : October 10, 1895, (MRS. JOHN HORGAN, AKA. MRS. CORNELIUS MURPHY) died on Wednesday, October 2, 1895, in St. Louis, Mrs. John Horgan, better known in Rolla as Mrs. Cornelius Murphy, aged about 64 years. Two years ago she was injured from a fall while in St. Louis from the effects of which she never recovered. Mrs. Horgan came to Rolla with her first husband in 1859, and until a few years ago lived on a farm on the Licking road four miles south of town. Four children are left to mourn her death, Daniel and Edward Murphy, Miss Maggie Murphy, and Mrs. Johanna Wallace of St. Louis. The remains were brought to Rolla thursday and after services at the Catholic Church by Rev. Father O'Laughlin, were placed at rest in the family lot in the Rolla Cemetary.
