Documentation:
My great grandfather came to US in early 1800's.
He first shows up in 1860 in Dade County Mo as a well digger in the 1860 census. He couldn't read or write.
His name is spelled several ways due to person who writes name down, DeShan, DeShon etc.
He shows up in 1861 marrying a Mary Jane Rector on 1/08/1861. I never found her name again.
He next shows up in 1870 census in Box of Cedar County married to A Elizabeth Hunter with a 2 yr old son named William David.
Shortly after that they moved to Franklin County Ar. Not long after they moved there, he got on a horse and rode off never to be heard from again.
I found him next in Inn Terr Ok married to a Sarah Greenwood and they had a son in 1878 named Albert. Albert lived his entire life in Poteau Ok where he died in 1972. No one in my family ever heard of him. All my dad's family was dead when I found him. He shows up two more times.
He served in the Civil war in the Kansas 6th Calvary. I found his application papers when he applied for his pension from the Union.
He married Lillie Jennings 19 and died in 1896.
