(MO) Times, Aug. 6, 1942)- The funeral of Mrs. Mattie Belle Bean, who
died Sunday morning at her home northwest of Madison, was held from the
home Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Colman White and the Rev. G. E.
Neely, Baptist ministers, conducting the service. Burial was in the
Alexander cemetery. Mrs. Bean was the daughter of John and Minerva
Alexander, and was born on what is known as the Alexander farm in Monroe
County, 5 miles northwest of Madison. Had she lived until August 12,
Mrs. Bean would have been 79 years old. Her husband died many years ago,
and a daughter, Miss Berthal, died about 10 years ago. She leaves one
daughter, Mrs. Stanley Darst, of her home, and three granddaughters, Mrs.
Cris Slusher of Kansas City, and Misses Hertha and Herma Darst of St.
Louis; one brother, Dr. M. L. Alexander of Kansas City. Mrs. Bean was a
devout member of the Baptist church. .
