SHULTS RITES WILL BE HELD AT FARMINGTON
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the
Farmington Church for Mrs. Malissie Shults, 87, who died this morning at
3:15 at the home of her son, J.W. Shults near Farmington following a
prolonged illness.  Last rites will be conducted by Rev. J.O. Guntharp of
Corinth.  Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery with McPeters Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shults had been in declining health for some time and her death was
a shock to her host of friends.  She had resided in Alcorn County
practically all of her life and was highly respected by those who knew
her.  She was preceded in death a number of years by her husband.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jim Neely; 3 sons J.N. Shults with
whom she made her home, T.P. Shults of Jackson, Tennessee, and J.W.
Shults of this county.
(This should be Mrs. Jim McNeely.  She was born Aug. 15, 1871 (Maggie)
and died Oct. 24, 1948 and is buried in Farmington Cem.  Her husband was
John James McNeely born Dec. 20, 1870 and died Aug. 14, 1931 also buried
in Farmington Cem.)

RITES SET THURSDAY FOR J.N. SHULTS
Farmer of Alcorn County, Age 72, Died Early Today Following Long Illness
Funeral service for James Nicholas "Nick" Shults of Route 3, Corinth will
be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Farmington Baptist
Church with Rev. Carroll Jackson of Jackson, Tennessee, officiating.  Mr.
Shults died this morning at 6:58 o'clock following more than a year of
failing health.  He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Shults, a farmer, was a native of Alcorn county and was a member of
the Baptist Church.  He was married ot Miss Eliza Mae Kelly in 903
(assume this should be 1903?), who survives.  He was well known in the
area where he farmed for many years and many friends and relatives were
grieved to learn of his death.
Burial will be in the Farmington cemetery with McPeters Funeral Home in
charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Eliza Mae Shults of Route 3, Corinth; three
sons, Leonard, Earl and Allen Shults, all of Route 3, Corinth; and one
daughter, Mrs. Mamie Hearn of Route 3, Corinth.  He is also survived by
13 grandchildren.
Friends and neighbors will serve as pallbearers.
Nov. 25, 2002 Interview with Lonnie Oaks. Doesn't know where Margaret
might be buried or any info regarding her or her husband.  He didn't know
their names.
Interview with Lonnie's brother, Dock Oaks in December, 2002.  Also
wasn't helpful, but has advised me to interview another relative Eleanor.

carpenter.  Was enlisted by me at Iuka, Miss on the 9th day of April 1861
to serve one year.  And is now entitled to a discharge by reason of
disability.
The said Thomas Johnson is entitled to pay and clothing from 30th day
April 1861 to the present time having received nothing.
Given in duplicate at Winchester, Va. this 13th day of July 1861.

At Farmington Cemetery in Corinth, Alcorn Co., MS the Voyles are buried
in a group.  A few of the older ones have a wrought fence around them.
Emily Voyles is buried inside the fence.  Dollie and Alford are buried to
the left of the fence.  Right next to the fence on the same side as
Dollie is a Civil War marker that reads "Thomas Johnson Co. K, 2nd
Mississippi Infantry, CSA"
