Dr. Voyles received his early education in the schools of Jacinto and Burnsville, Mississippi. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Mississippi at Oxford, and the Memphis Medical College in Memphis, TN receiving his medical degree May 22, 1900. In 1900 Dr. Voyles came to Corinth.
Dr. Voyles was a physician and surgeon for the Southern & Mobile Railroad, and practiced medicine in Corinth for 30 years.

Sanford, M.D. who postoffice address is Corinth Miss and who attended 2 courses of Lectures at Memphis Hospital Medical College who did graduate at Memphis Hospital Medical College and who has spent 4 months in hospital, and has practiced medicine (blank) years, and has chosen as his School of Practice that of the Regular Physician, and refers concerning his moral character to Prof. J.R. Reynolds, Jacinto and Rev. J.H. Taylor, Kossuth has made application for license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi.
Therefore, by authority granted in section 9 of An Act of Regulate the Practice of Medicine in the State of Miss., approved Feb. 25th, A.D. 1882, the Board of Health of the State of Miss. do hereby license the aforesaid James Sylvestus Voyles to practice Medicine in the State of Miss.
Issued, by order of the Miss. State Board of Health, this 18th day of Oct. A.D. 1892.
