Elliott Sewter (Sutor) 37 3/4 acres on S side of Great Troublesome Creek, adjacent to John Waford and William Jones on 23 November 1795 for 26 Pounds, 18 Shillings. Witnessed by John Bawick, William Straton, John Suter. Page 211 showes Moses Yell sold to Wm. Elliott Sewtor for 175 pounds, 133 acres on both sides of the Great Troublesome Creek, adjacent to Mateer, James McNealy, dated 11 November 1795; witnessed by John Bowick and John Sewtor. Page 212 shoes Moses Yell sold to Wm. Elliott Sewter,for 50 Pounds, 87 acres on Great Troublesome Creek, adjacent to Mateer, James McNealey; November 11, 1795 and witnessed by John Barwich and John Sewtor. In Deed Book O, page 22 John Suter sold to William E. Suiter 100 acres on Big Rock House Creek. On 9 March 1826, in Rockingham County, NC, William Suiter married Mrs. Elizabeth Caffey (widow of Michael Caffey). In 1823, William Suitor sold a negro girl to Michal Caffey; the bill of sale is recorded in Rockingham County, NC Deed Book X, page 117. In 1832 William E. Suiter sold to James Suiter, 4 tracts of land (377 acres) on Big Troublesome Cree. In 1832, James Suiter, Executor of William E. Suitor\'s will, deeded Negro slaves to Elizabeth Suitor in a quit claim recorded in Deed Book 2dE, page 103. On 4 April, 1832, William E. Suiter wrote his will, found in Book B, p 60. He mentions his sons James and John, and daughter Sarah Hensley and wife Elizabeth Suiter, whom he provided for in her widowhoo. He made bequests of slaves to grandchildren Guy Caffey, William Hensley, and Mary Hensley. To his grandaughter Mary he left a slave girl named Rachel. In the will it states that James is to care for John and see that he is well-clothed. A sow and a calf are given to John, but James was to keep them for John\'s support. William Suiter specified that the slaves he left to his daughter, Sarah, were not to be sold to pay her huband\'s debts. After his were settled, Willliam Suiter left the rest of his estate to his three children, with John\'s part being handled by James. Executor of the estate were to be James Suiter and James Irwin. The will was probated in August, 1832. In 1835 Elizabeth Suitor et al sold to Thomas Jones 82 acres on the Haw River, recorded in Book 2dE, page 163. In 1839 James Suiter sold 287 acres on Big Troublesome Creek to James Johnson, recoreded in Book 2dK, page 40. (Note: The name Suiter has been found to have been spelled many different ways, ie., Souter, Sewter, Suiter, Suitor. It should also be noted that James Suiter moved to MS and his name is recorded as Suitor)
