NOTES FOR MINNIE WAMMACK: Obit saved by Pauline Chunn Roach: MRS. WILL ROACH BLUE MOUNTAIN, MISSISSIPPI, Feb. 17th- Mrs. Will B. Roach, 47, died Saturday night in Jackson, Mississippi, and was buried in Jacob's Chapel Monday, the funeral services being conducted by her pastor, Rev.W.P. Liming, Pastor of Blue Mountain Methodist Church. Mrs. Roach was taken to Jackson some time ago for treatment and her husband was just on the point of leaving here for Jackson when word came of her death. Before her marriage she was Miss Minnie Womack, daughter of Mrs. Etta Womack. She married W.B. Roach of Blue Mountain in 1910. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Jesse Peeler, Calhoun City; Russell, Ralph. and Vivian Roach of Blue Mountain; and by the following sisters: Mrs. Ike Carter, Ripley; Mrs. Walter Smith, Ripley; Mrs. Dan Carter, Ripley; and Mrs. Ernest Sparks, Dumas. The family moved to Blue Mountain several years ago and Mr. Roach served for some time as a local official. The Ripley Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements. Roach. We also especially thank Brother Liming for his consoling words and the Ripley Funeral Home for their efficient service. May God bless each and every one who helped in any way. W.B. Roach and children Phone interview between Glenn and Linda about Minnie's death. Linda says Minnie was "going through the change of life" and was suicidal. She was trying to kill herself at home with a butcher knife. During this time you had to get your own family member to the state hospital for commitment. Before she left with her husband, she told Vivian to always take care of Will. That's why Vivian stayed throughout her life in the Roach family home in Blue Mountain. She lived there after her marriage to Cloyce and cared for her father until his death. On the ride by train to Jackson state hospital, they passed over a canyon. Minnie attempted to jump off the train but her husband, Will, caught her by the legs and pulled her back into the train. She received treatment at the hospital and Will was told she was able to come home. As he was preparing to make the trip from Blue Mountain to Jackson to pick her up, a flu epidemic was going through the patients of the hospital. Minnie caught the flu and died before he got there. I formerly had Minnie listed as Minnie Lee, but her marker has her name as Minnie Lea so I've using that in my computer at this time.
