MRS. CORDELIA CHUNN
New Albany, Mississippi
Services for Mrs. Cordelia Chunn of Blue Mountain, Mississippi, were held
at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Union County with
the Rev. Earnest Rakestraw officiating.  Burial was in the church
cemetery under the direction of Smallwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chunn, who was 78, died at Blue Mountain at 12:30 a.m. Friday after
suffering a paralytic stroke six weeks ago.  She was born in Union
County, but had lived in Blue Mountain for the past five years.  She was
a Baptist.
She leaves five sons, Norman Chunn, Leroy Chunn, Clovis Chunn and Ronalde
Chunn, all of Blue Mountain, and Boyce Chunn of Cotton Plant,
Mississippi; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Roach of Blue Mountain; two
brothers, Huey Carter of Memphis and Tom Carter of East Prairie, MO; 10
grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In Cordelia's Bible she'd written in the fly leaf this reference: John
14:26 which reads, " But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the
Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
This Bible was copyrighted in 1915 and lovingly saved in a plastic bag by
her family.  In the front of the Bible Pauline Chunn Roach wrote the
following, " This Bible belonged to Author and Cordelia Chunn then Coy
and Randle Chunn got it when Mama died.  Then, when Randle died, Coy gave
it to me."  Pauline gave Glenn Roach, Cordelia's glasses and walking
stick.  After Pauline died and her children were cleaning out her
apartment, we found the coat of Cordelia that she is wearing in many
pictures, also 2 of Cordelia's purses, and her coin purse.
