He reportedly had an illegitimate daughter in Michigan prior to moving to Oregon, graduating from college and marrying Evelyn. He was a well-known college athlete at Oregon Agric. College (Oregon State) in football, basketball, and track. Later a coach in Portland, OR, Fargo, ND, and Palo Alto, CA. Won amateur senior golf awards and sang in light opera in the Palo Alto Players.
