Documentation:
The marriage recorded in Wood Co., OH for William & Susan (ADAMS) COWDEN lists
William's parents as, John & Nancy (FORBES) COWDEN. This hasn't been verified in
any other record as of August 2003. William served in the Civil War in Co. E,
14th Regiment of Michigan. He enlisted 22SEP1864 & was discharged 18JUL1865 at
Louisville, KY. His discharge papers say: "Said William Cowden was born in the
State of Ohio, is 30 years of age. Five feet seven inches high, sandy
complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a farmer."
Isabella Co. Death Rec. #92: William Cowden, d. 29MAY1909 Gilmore Twp., Isabella
Co., MI; age 72y7m15d; cause: concussion of brain; occupation: farmer;
birthplace: Ohio; parents: George Cowden & Unknown. William was kicked in the
