Husband's General Notes
==========================================================================================

! There was a Humphrey PALMER born in Honiton on Otter in Devonshire on 24 Jun 1740 to Edmund PALMER and Margaret. High possibility that this is ours. IGI Page 27,317. However it seems that a disastrous fire in Honiton may have destroyed the records.
! Came to America in 1770
! In Rehoboth, Ma. in 1778
! In Guilford in 1784
! In Providence, R.I. 1774

   "Humphry son of Edmund and Margaret PALMER baptized 24 June, 1740 at the New Meeting House Independent Chapel, Honiton on Otter, Devonshire, England".
   This is the only Humphry to appear on IGI from Devonshire. I would think there is a good possiblity that this is the man you are looking for. More research is needed to determine this for sure. Again, visit the family history center near your home, and the staff will assist you further in your research.

   Kessler Frederick & Florence: On lots No. 60 and 61, on the road leading from the Gregory Schoolhouse northerly into Brattleboro. This place was sold by Samuel Allen to James Bacon in 1776. His daughter, Hannah Bacon, sold the homestead in 1785 to Humphrey PALMER, who owned it in 1805. In 1840 the farm was sold by George G. Stoddard to Ephraim Tyler of Wilmington, Vt., who lived here during his life. He was succeeded by his son William H., who remained here until the infirmities of old age caused him to sell in the fall of 1919 to (p.357) Copeland. He sold it to Arthur and Helen Jennison in 1921. Then in 1942 the Kesslers bought it. For map of land owned by Humphrey PALMER see pull-out of original layout of Guilford in 100 and 50 acre parcels in 1765. I think that he had 50 acres. Shown sideways, his lot was positioned as follows:
