Husband's General Notes
==========================================================================================

! Shanghied with brother as small boy in 1680 (He would have been about 8 years old). His brother was ten. It seems they were playing in the street when a man gave them a letter requesting them to give it to the Captain of a ship about to leave for America, assuring them that the Captain would reward them for their sevice. The Captain sailed with them on board. This story can be found in the "History of Princeton, MA."
   No more is known of the older brother and very little of Daniel. When grown, he purchased a tract of land and built a house in what was then known as Watertown Farms and which was incorporated as a town Jan 1/12, 1712.
! Motto of the MacGregors is "S RIOGAL MO DHREAM" or "My Line Is Royal" Crest Badge: A lions head, erased, crowned with an antique crown, proper.
! Gaelic name---MacGrioghair
! The home of the clan was in the Eastern border of Argyll and the Western border of Perthshire, including Glenorchy, Glenstrae, Glenlyon and Glengyle.
! See notes on Daniels life in Watertown in Gregory looseleaf.
! In the History of Scotland, many names stand out, but none more than that of Rob Roy. Immortalized in prose and verse, he was the Scotch Robin Hood, Robert MacGregor-Rob Roy (Gaelic, "Red Robert"). He was born in 1671. Our Daniel was of the same clan and was born one year later.
! The first Gregory was the third son of Alpin, King of the Scots. Also an ancestor.
! Partial letter "Patricia A. Knight" <pknight1@fidnet.com>
"I have the father of Thomas as John MaGriggo and the father of John as Daniel MacGregor. From there I have Donald Gha as the father of Daniel."
