NOTES: Elijah WHITE joined the Massachusetts Militia when he was just 16 years old and was a "Matross, " (One who works around the cannon.) Elijah and Betsey (WISWELL) WHITE removed to Whiting, Addison, VT., circa 1802 or 1803. My grandfather used to tell me that Betsey Franklin Wiswell, was a distant cousin of Benjamin Franklin's. My grandfather died in 1952. I need to further research this claim.
