  NOTES:

  The 1910 US census (2) shows Florence, age 35, 2nd marriage, from Maine, as Arthur’s wife of
  (3 years; 1907) but there is no record of a marriage between Arthur and Florence in Massachusetts
  or Maine. The Maine reference on the 1910 census is likely an error by the census taker. Leroy’s
  birth (3) and death (4) records list the mother’s name as Florence Colby, born in East Boston. An
  extensive search of the Massachusetts Archives failed to identify any further details about
  Florence. There’s too many of them. The marriage certificate for Ralph and Catherine lists his
  mother as Florence Robertson. This is extremely unlikely (for reasons known only to Ralph
  himself). In the absence of any solid proof to the contrary, there is sufficient circumstantial
  evidence to conclude beyond a reasonable doubt, that Florence Colby was indeed Ralph’s mother.
