  a) John is listed in various places as Pushard, Pushaw, Pushan, Pushor. He was a farmer during his entire life. The 1840 Maine Census Index does not list John, even though he does appear in the census itself. He sold his farm in Pittsfield on 19/Dec/1850 (17) after which he apparently moved to Burnham.
  b) Betsy Pushor, age 24, last seen in 1860 US Census (Burnham (5) living with John and wife, Phoebe. FHL Film 5170035, Image 18
  c) Eben Pushor: Daughters, Nellie and Rose, stayed with Eben until his death in 1920. They appear in the 1930 US Census for Wisconsin, Waupaca County, Larrabee; ED 68-19, page 3B, lines 96, 97; FHL Film 4955473, Image 6.
  d) The maiden name of Sarah (Givens) Pushard frequently appears online as GRIMES. The GRIMES attribution is in fact incorrect. (36)
  e) There is a gap in the Pittsfield VR, about 1835-1860, due to a fire. This affects Betsy, Rachel, Ellen and Ebeneezer. (Pittsfield Town Clerk)
  f) Burnham (Waldo County) was originally called '25 Mile Pond Plantation'. Cambridge (Somerset County) was originally part of Ripley until 1834.
  g) There are records of the marriage of John and Phebe in three locations. The intentions were recorded in Burnham (1) which lists her as Phebe Twombly of Monroe. This identity is supported by the 1850 Monroe census (4) which lists her as the wife of Nathaniel Twombly. The marriage was also recorded in the Somerset County records (3) as Phebe Twombly of Monroe. It was again recorded, apparently at a later date, in Pittsfield (1) which lists her as Peleg Twombly of Monson.
  h) John's marriage to Emily apparently didn't last very long, as he appears in the 1880 (June 18) census as being married to Catherine Vase.
