STRATTON family, including Sarah, consisted of the following siblings:
    William, John, Edward, Martha, RIchard, Sarah, and Peter
 
Samuel RICE at "Rice Cove" in Bayou Bouef, near Morgan City LA, by Sep 1803.
After the death of Samuel [b.1744-d.1813] the family moved to "Rice Island"
in St Mary's Parish.  This location was near Avery Island.
 
The mother of Samuel R. RICE, b. 1744, has  been thought to be a RUSSELL,
but to date... NO connection to any RUSSELL has ever been found, and the
RUSSELL Researchers... firmly deny this possibility.
 
The ONLY link to a RUSSELL, that has been found, was the purchase of 
133 ac's of land Dec 1772 from Daniel & Jemima RUSSELL by Samuel & Agnes.
 
I have also found Henry STRATTON m. 15 Oct 1800, Sally RUSSELL.  This young man 
was a nephew of Sarah (STRATTON) RICE.  This may be the connection
and over the years of re-telling... possibly Levi Stratton RICE got it confused.
I have found several other places in his writing of the "Our Forefathers", where 
surnames were swapped about, but the rest of his 'memory' was just fine.
