Documentation: David GAREY arrived in New Orleans in 1835. David and Mary Ann GAREY died of Yellow Fever.   
Bartley GAREY, after his parents died was taken to Saltillo, Hardin County, TN when he was about 14, Listed 
on the 1860 Cenus in Hardin County, 12th District, Tennessee as an apprentice to James W Hawkins (Boating 
and Farming) Enlisted Sep 18, 1862 at Bethel, McNairy County, TN and mustered Nov 13, 1862 Company C or H,
6th Tenn Cavalry Regt, Captain Resident D DeFord as Commander, Wounded at Vicksberg in 1863, Was captured 
Mar 1864 and sent to Andersonville Prison in GA, Parolled Nov 19, 1864 in Savannah, GA, Admitted to Annapolis, 
MD til Dec 18, 1864, Reported to Camp Chase Ohio on Jan 29, 1865, Mustered out Jul 26, 1865 at Pulaski, TN.  
Was a farmer, a Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a member of the County Court.  Moved to Bemis, TN 
about 1901 and Died from a busted blood vessel while coughing.  William Garey, after his parents died was 
taken to Saltillo, Hardin County, TN when he was about 10.  Listed on the 1860 Hardin County, 13th Civil 
District, Tennessee census living with a Reuben White.  Was a farmer near Right, TN, he was also a school 
teacher and a carpenter and a member of the Cumberland Prebyterian Church and served as an Elder.  He died 
of cancer. David GAREY Enlisted in Captain Guy Dreux's Cavalry Co A. on March 10, 1862 for a 90 day period.  
Surrendered at Citronelle, AL May 4, 1865 and paroled to Meridian, Miss, May 10, 1865 Dreux's Co., La. Cav. 
Served as escot to Gen. Beauregard, Bragg, Hood & Johnston.
